Information Management & Software Engineering Laboratory
Mission Statement
The Information Management and Software Engineering (IMSE) lab belongs to the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of the International Hellenic University . As an academic/research entity, the lab's primary goal is to co-ordinate, promote and continuously improve on teaching, and to conduct research on the current trends in the fields of Database Technology, and Software Engineering.
J. Gray states in his The Revolution in Database Architecture (ACM SIGMOD, June 2004) paper: “... today algorithms and data are being unified by integrating programming languages with the DB system...”, plus that “...the modern DBMS comprises a framework for data mining and machine learning algorithms applicability...”. In this respect, the activities of the IMSE lab extend over (yet, they are not limited to) the following knowledge/research areas:
Computer Programming Methodologies and Languages
Data Access Methods and Indexing
Database Modeling and Semantics
Relational, Object-Relational, and XML Databases
Data Warehousing and OLAP
Data Analytics, and Data Science
Text, Temporal, and Spatial Access Patterns and Methods
Java EE/.NET Architectures
Empirical Studies in Object Oriented Software Technology and Agile Methods
Software Quality Assurance Evaluation Metrics, and Heuristics
